REVIEW & SWATCHES: Le Métier de Beauté Silk Road Fall 2011 East Meets West Nail Lacquer Collection Anatolia, Dynasty, Silk Road & Urban Dweller
“East Meets West” Nail Lacquer Collection is the fittingly named batch of nail polishes which are part of Le Métier de Beauté Fall 2011 Silk Road Collection. The beautiful complex colors evoke the rich mixture of luxurious goods that traveled the Silk Road.

Yesterday, my Neiman Marcus counter got three of the four nail polishes that comprise this collection. I rushed to get them as I know many will be ordering sight unseen.
I will be updating this post to add the missing polish Silk Road (a metallic bronzed copper) arrives. Silk Road is now included in the review.
First we have Anatolia which is described as a “rich plum illuminated with bronzy, golden shimmer”. I find this description quite accurate plus a hint of raspberry. This shade changes with on different light thanks to the beautiful micro shimmer.
It is no a secret that Le Métier de Beauté nail polishes are one of the best in the market. Not only are the shades stunning, but also the formula is excellent. Anatolia was no exception. This formula was a bit on the thinner side which does not bother me in the least as it was easy to work with. One coat seemed a bit sheer (many Le Métier de Beauté polishes go on opaque in one coat) so I used a second coat to achieve an opaque finish.
Although this polish is loaded with micro shimmer the finish is amazingly smooth. The picture is two coats Anatolia, no base coat or top coat.
At first glance I thought that Anatolia would be similar to MAC Bad Fairy released with the Venomous Villains Collection. However, Bad Fairy is much redder with larger shimmer, not as smooth and less pigmented.
Next up we have Dynasty which is described as a "deep, shimmering fuchsia". It leans to a cool red metallic specially when you add more coats. The finish is smooth and beautiful.
The formula for this polish is outstanding. One coat was absolute perfection, although I went ahead and applied two —which made the color a bit redder. It may not be the most original color, however I have nothing like it in my stash. Picture shows two coats of Dynasty, no base coat or top coat.
Silk Road arrived a bit delayed in counters across the country. But it went above all my expectations when I finally got my hands on it. It is STUNNING. Silk Road is described as a "metallic, bronzed copper" and it is exactly that plus some beautiful shimmer.
The formula is a little thicker than the other polishes in this collection although not thick compared to other brands. It was easy to work with and even though nail polishes with metallic finish are usually streaky, I was happy to find Silk Road was not one of them. It went on smoothly. This could be a one coat nail polish but I always apply at least two. Picture shows two coats of Silk Road, no base coat or top coat.
Finally, we have Urban Dweller a complex shade described as a “Rich chocolate plum with golden effervescence”. I also find it has a green tint to i that comes from the tarnished gold shimmer.
Urban Dweller was a bit on the thicker side, because of this the first coat went on a tad uneven. The second coat smoothed everything out and gave it an opaque finish. I tried comparing this shade to Dior 886 Aztec Chocolate / New World Purple but was way off, same happened with Deborah Lippman Brown Eyed Girl. Picture is two coats of Urban Dweller with no base coat or top coat.
Time and again Le Métier de Beauté proves itself with extremely high quality products. From their formulations to the complex shades this collection is no exception. The small $10 (4ml or .14 oz) bottles are perfect to try many different shades of this luxurious brand. An absolute must have for the fall.
